EchoLink for Mac (EchoMac)

Macintosh OSX version of EchoLink is EchoMac. EchoMac is not easy than EchoLink. EchoMac must require fixed IP address even EchoLink does not. You must set your Macintosh’s MAC address and fixed IP address in your home router so that the ports 5198, 5199 and 5200 forward to your fixed IP address.

And you perhaps obliged to choose specific version of EchoMac. EchoMac version 1.6.3 and 1.6.1 did not work on my MacBook Pro 13 inch (type 7,1) purchased in 2010, OSX version 10.6.8 language Japanese. EchoMac 1.15 and 1.13 did work.

EchoLink has User Category functionality although EchoMac doesn’t.

The performance of EchoLink works under the VMWare Windows XP environment is unacceptable because the user interface action is very slow and voice is frequently dropped. The performance of EchoLink works under the Windows is fine. The performance of EchoMac works under the Mac OSX is also fine.

EchoMacというのは、EchoLinkのMacintosh版です。Windows版と違って、すんなり動きません。パソコン(Macintosh)側は、固定IPアドレスに設定しなければなりません。固定IPアドレスにするには、例えば、MacintoshのMACアドレスと割り当てIPアドレスとをルーターに設定すればOKです。当局は、無線LAN接続なのでAirMacのMACアドレスということになります。それからルーター側は、5198, 5199, 5200 のポートマッピングをその固定IPアドレスに設定してやる必要があります。そしてインストールするEchoMacのバージョンを選ばねばなりません。当局の場合、MacBook Pro 13インチで2010年に購入したMacBookPro7,1型にMac OSX 10.6.8 という環境ですが、この場合、EchoMacのバージョン1.6.3と1.6.1は、動きませんでした。他のいくつかのバージョンを試しましたが、そのうち、バージョン1.15と1.13のEchoMacが動作しました。Windows版EchoLinkには、User Categoryがあってコンファレンスだけとか選べますが、EchoMacにはその機能は無く、すべてがずらりとリスト表示されます。Mac上でVMWareのWindows XPで動かしたEchoLinkですと、ユーザインタフェースの反応速度ががとても遅く、時々音が途切れてしまいますが、Macネイティブで動作させたEchoMacの場合は、とても快適に動作します。
